Family Tree

BLACK STONE CHERRY are set to release their sixth studio album, Family Tree via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group on 20th April 2018.  Burnin’, the first musical taste of the new collection is available today, along with the ability to pre-order the release in various physical and digital formats.  Check out the lyric video for Burnin’ here <YouTube URL> and pick up your digital version here.   Physical album formats, including a UK exclusive clear vinyl option limited to just 1500 copies are available here.
Family Tree is the much-anticipated follow up to 2016’s Kentucky, which debuted at #5 on the Official UK Album Chart.  Like Kentucky, BLACK STONE CHERRY opted to self-produce and track Family Tree at David Barrick's Barrick Recording in Glasgow, KY, the same studio where the four-piece recorded their eponymous debut.  BSC also opted to not over-rehearse upfront of the album sessions, instead preferring the immediacy and spontaneity of in-the-moment takes.  The band also entrusted frontman Chris Robertson to mix the songs, which perfectly fit the loose, creative process that birthed Family Tree.
Family Tree boasts BSC’s tried-and-true lucky number with its 13 songs, and like all BSC releases, features songwriting contributions from each member.  Drummer John Fred tells us, “Family Tree showcases all of our collective musical influences and how we have taken those to create something that is truly our own unique Southern American rock ‘n roll sound.”  Two special guests appear, one bringing the concept of family full circle.  Chris’ 5 yr old son contributes backup vocals on the swaggering You Got The Blues, while the other, revered jam-band musician Warren Haynes (Allman Bros/Gov’t Mule) offers a guitar cameo and vocals on the delta stomp of Dancing In The Rain.  The band first met Warren 17 years ago as freshly-signed youngsters on their first visit to New York City.
The concept of family looms large in the world of BLACK STONE CHERRY’s four band members.  Sticksman John Fred Young's father Richard and his uncle Fred, are founding members of the Grammy Award-winning country rock n’ roots band, The Kentucky HeadHunters.  BSC’s four high school-aged friends - Young, plus frontman/guitarist Chris Robertson, guitarist Ben Wells and bassist Jon Lawhon - grew up honing their craft in the Headhunters’ Practice House, an abandoned property on the Young family’s farmland.  John Fred says, “We grew up in the Kentucky Headhunters’ rehearsal space, looking up at posters of Cream, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, the Stones, Montrose, and the Faces.  We were like kids someone took in a time capsule and put in the woods,”

BLACK STONE CHERRY will be playing at several major European festivals this summer, for a full overview keep an eye on the tour page their website. The band’s honest, gutsy, no-nonsense approach to their live show has allowed them to rock 12,000-cap arena dates across the UK for a number of years.  Expect this to be their modus operandi for the foreseeable future in the wake of th

Black to Blues will be released on September 29 on CD, blue vinyl, download and streaming

In case you didn't know, Mascot Label Group is home to some of the finest blues icons of this generation, such as Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart, Walter Trout, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Gales, Jonny Lang, Robben Ford, Bernie Marsden, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Sonny Landreth and more. Now's the perfect time to add Black Stone Cherry to this illustrious list!

But before you think "Hey, blues... That's something my dad listens to...", these four young guys will prove you wrong.

Black Stone Cherry selected 6 of their favorite tunes by Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Freddie King and Albert King, and reimagined them with the meaty moxie of classic BSC.

“I know it’s crazy for four rock n’ roll dudes to make a blues EP, but it’s us sharing with everyone the music that’s been our DNA from day one” -  Chris Robertson

BLACK STONE CHERRY is proud to announce their signing to new label home, the Mascot Label Group.

The Kentucky rockers will go into Barrick Recording in Glasgow, KY today to record their fifth studio album. Taking a “back to their roots” approach, the album will be recorded in the same way and same place as their eponymous debut album, which broke the band out of the small southern backwater and onto the world stage.

In just eight years, BLACK STONE CHERRY has grown from playing 200 capacity bars to headlining 12,000 cap UK arenas, with many other territories catching up in the wake of such a phenomenal success story.  Mascot is excited to have the opportunity to carry the band forward to even bigger achievements around the world.

“What can I say? The whole Mascot Label Group team is thrilled that a great band like BLACK STONE CHERRY is putting their faith and future in our hands,” said Mascot Owner Ed van Zijl. “The new songs I've heard are awesome and we can’t wait to get started - here we come 2016!”

"We are proud to announce we've partnered with the Mascot Label Group,” said BLACK STONE CHERRY guitarist Ben Wells. “Their eclectic roster speaks for itself and we are excited to see how BSC can fit into their mixture of great talent.  From the employees to the owner of the label, we feel we're amongst a great team and can't wait to start a new cycle with everyone involved!  We begin recording our 5th studio album on October 7th and are beyond ready to get new music to your ears!  We're recording in our hometown with the same engineer we recorded our first album with, so needless to say, that mojo will be back in action and the riffs will tear you up!  See you all on tour with a whole new BSC very soon!"

And yes, towards the end of the below it does say something about a new studio album...

Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY are set to release their debut live DVD, "Thank You: Livin' Live Birmingham, UK" via Eagle Rock Entertainment on October, 30 2015. The performance was shot on BLACKSTONE CHERRY’s ‘Magic Mountain’ tour, exactly one year prior to the disc’s scheduled release date, at the band’s sold-out LG Arena Birmingham (Genting Arena) show on October, 30 2014.

Pre-orders (with T-shirts, hats and 18X24” poster featuring your name!) can be placed here:

A clip taken from the DVD/Blu-Ray for the song "White Trash Millionaire" can be seen here:

In just seven years, BLACK STONE CHERRY progressed from playing 200-capacity club gigs in the UK to headlining their first arena tour. This DVD documents one of those triumphant shows, filmed at Birmingham’s LG Arena and showcases the band’s long-standing love affair with their British audience. Filmed in hi-definition and available on DVD, Blu-ray and twin DVD+CD pack, the incendiary live set features crowd favorites from all four of the band’s studio albums, plus bonus interview material and additional live tracks shot at this year’s Download Festival.

The band is thrilled to bring this release to their fanbase, as guitarist Ben Wells attests: “We are beyond excited to bring you all this live DVD. Growing up watching my ELVIS PRESLEY and Aerosmith DVDs and VHS tapes, I never thought I would be in a band that would one day be releasing one - and in an arena at that! We are so honored, humbled, and thankful to have the fans and friends we have in this business and we couldn't do it without the grace of God and all of your support! Sit back and enjoy this live BSC experience. We had a blast filming it!"

Frontman Chris Robertson continues: “I remember our first gig headlining in Birmingham at the Barfly and I thought about that night many times as we were filming this DVD. It was truly an amazing experience that we will cherish forever and we have to give all the credit to the amazing fans for showing up and making it all possible!”

With a running time of over 2 hours, the DVD’s tracklisting runs as follows:

Rain Wizard / Blind Man / Me & Mary Jane / In My Blood / Holding On...To Letting Go / Maybe Someday / Such A Shame / Things My Father Said / Fiesta Del Fuego / Sunshine Of Your Love / Like I Roll / Bad Luck And Hard Love / *drum solo* / Hollywood In Kentucky / Hell And High Water / Soul Creek / White Trash Millionaire / Blame It On The Boom Boom/Layla / Peace Is Free / Lonely Train (Can’t Judge A Book).

Bassist Jon Lawhon informs us, "We've worked very hard on putting all of this together for everyone and it was the crowd that made this a night we will not soon forget. Thank you all so much for your dedication and support. We love you all and hope you enjoy it!"

The band’s inimitable sticksman, John Fred Young underlines their appreciation of BSC fans’ loyalty and echoes the DVD’s title when he says; “THANK YOU to everyone who stuck with us over the years and who came out and made this night such a special memory for us! This is for you!”
